Carbon-Ion Announces Reg D 506(c) Offering

07/15/2022 by adminbolhuis

New York City – July 7, 2022 – Carbon-Ion Energy, Inc. (Carbon-Ion or C-Ion), a leader in advanced research and development of next-generation power storage and delivery, today announced that it has launched an equity fundraising campaign under the Regulation D 506(c) exemption. The offering is only open to accredited investors here.

Carbon-Ion was founded to develop and bring to market the groundbreaking technology initially developed by ZapGo Ltd. With over 100 patents either issued or pending, Carbon-Ion Energy and its subsidiary Oxcion Ltd. will engage in the continuous expansion of its intellectual property portfolio, working towards a product that will be a key enabler of delivery and storage solutions. C-Ion’s products will offer sustainable power on demand from existing power grids to support the additional power needs from EVs, aviation, heavy transportation, warehouse robotics, as well as enhanced management of electrical grids themselves.

Andrew Sispoidis, Carbon-Ion’s CEO notes, “With the climate crisis reaching critical levels from the American West to the Indian subcontinent and beyond, technologies that enable renewable energy sources to smooth natural sun and weather cycles via energy storage and power on demand are becoming increasingly necessary. With a Reg D 506(c) raise any accredited investor interested in a fossil fuel-free future can be part of this game-changing work. We are excited to build a product that can deliver much more robust power storage and delivery solutions required for a livable planet in the years ahead.”

Today, lithium- and cobalt-based batteries are in widespread use in our phones, laptops, cordless appliances, power tools, electric vehicles, and even electrical grids. However, these batteries are not a perfect solution as their base materials – lithium and cobalt – are increasingly challenging to source, difficult to recycle, and potentially flammable. Carbon-Ion is developing a new high-power storage device called Carbon-Ion or C-Ion. It is safer, faster charging, longer-lasting, does not use rare-earth materials, and is not harmful to the environment if damaged or discarded. On its own, C-Ion can provide these benefits in many products and applications. In addition, C-Ion can also improve the safety, lifetime, and performance of energy storage systems when used alongside Lithium-Ion batteries in a broad range of applications.

With respect to grid management, our product will be particularly useful for a variety of grid services. Specifically, those that require a very fast reaction time and sufficient power to stabilize the frequency, reactive power, and voltage of grid systems. Those kinds of grid management services will become increasingly important as green energy solutions come online and the dependence on fossil fuel generators is reduced.

In the critical power grid market, dynamic containment is one of a new suite of frequency response services that have been rolled out by the UK national grid in 2021. This represents an excellent example of how the move to renewable generation offers opportunities for fast-responding energy storage. Today, this dynamic containment market relies almost entirely on batteries. However, batteries simply cannot provide the amount of energy necessary in the short time required. Worse still, using batteries for this purpose reduces their usable life by 50% or more.

Significant loss of grid inertia has led to more frequency deviations and ‘brownouts’ than ever before. A range of technologies is needed to plug this gap as we move toward a grid that is fully supplied by sustainable, green energy production. Every country will require these kinds of grid support technologies as the world increases its demand for electricity, even more so for those countries that adopt a net-zero carbon footprint.

Carbon-Ion can perform several roles in grid management. It will enable better battery management and be important to other longer-term storage systems that will be needed as we move forward in the world energy transformation. It has unique qualities that allow it to perform very fast-responding power balancing which is important to control frequency and other grid management stabilization. It will absorb and release energy in short duration balancing, providing the amount of power required to keep the lights on and industry running. Its design is inherently stable and has a very long life without appreciable degradation over many charge-discharge cycles.

By upgrading the way we deliver power and energy to electric vehicles (EVs), C-Ion can help reduce the need for expensive grid reinforcement and deliver cheaper energy prices to the EV customer, much faster charging times, and better returns to the owners of charging stations. Costs can be reduced using a form of safe energy storage that smooths out the energy needed to the hours that the local network can deliver, again without the need for expensive network reinforcement. Faster delivery of this energy and power to the EV allows more vehicles to use a single asset, therefore, giving the customer a quicker, cheaper service and the asset owner a better return.

A different form of the Carbon-Ion product could also be built into the vehicle’s structure (structural energy storage), making for simpler and cheaper onboard energy storage than the complex lithium packs currently used. Carbon-Ion already has the IP necessary to create structural energy storage.

Carbon-Ion’s mission is about improving the performance and manufacturability of supercapacitors. This is achieved by using improved materials that allow for rapid assimilation and disbursement of energy, increasing energy density, and very long life spans. Carbon-Ion uses a combination of advanced carbons and ionic electrolytes. Non-flammable chemical solvents are used in the manufacturing of the electrolyte. This makes Carbon-Ion’s products very safe, non-volatile, and with improved sustainability.

Carbon-Ion will enable true power on demand. Carbon-Ion cells have unique properties that allow them to charge and discharge extremely quickly while still retaining meaningful energy storage, which enables the delivery of fast, clean power on demand. These unique Carbon-Ion cells can also deliver a powerful boost in hybrid systems, such as grid energy storage or electric aviation.

Currently, global energy systems are at the beginning of a transition to fully electric living, disrupting nearly every industry in the world. As a result, there is a critical need for better and more diverse energy storage so that industries can provide more impactful solutions to all consumers. Carbon-Ion can bridge this gap in a groundbreaking way by delivering fast, clean power on demand to a broad range of applications from infrastructure to individual products and from grid services to drones.

Carbon-Ion’s speedy, reliable, and safe technology and unique material properties allow for a swift response time that adds value to the entire power system. Carbon-Ion cells have high cycle life and ramping capabilities. Furthermore, they can perform without noticeable performance degradation over hundreds of thousands charge-discharge cycles. This will create significant efficiencies in energy systems that will, in turn, save money, time, and resources.

Genesis Santa Monica RenderingSanta Monica, CA –July 13, 2021 – The LAcarGUY family of dealerships owned by noted Heal the Bay executive board member and environmental enthusiast Mike Sullivan, are excited to continue and expand their long and fruitful relationship with Santa Monica to officially open their newest dealership, Genesis Santa Monica in that popular seaside burg today. Once this new dealership is fully staffed the LAcarGUY’s locations in Santa Monica will have brought 300 quality jobs and numerous car shoppers from across Los Angeles to the city.

With the opening of their sixth dealership there, LAcarGUY cements their business leadership in Santa Monica. As a responsible business, and active community member LAcarGUY not only supports the city with taxes, but also buoys several civic organizations including Heal the Bay, Meals on Wheels West, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Monica. The dealerships also put hundreds of staffers on the sand for beach cleanups annually.

LAcarGUY’s CEO Mike Sullivan notes, “After a lifetime in Santa Monica I am very pleased to add our sixth dealership to the community. We are three generations here, and proud to be an integral part of the city. I think Genesis will be a great and natural addition, and we are especially excited about their upcoming EV lineup.”

The LAcarGUY family of dealerships has a long history in Santa Monica. This dealer group started when Mike’s father Wilfred H. “Sully” Sullivan opened its first dealership, Volkswagen Santa Monica, in 1964. Mike began his automotive career in 1976 at VW Santa Monica, working his way up through the ranks and eventually expanded in 1989 when he opened Lexus Santa Monica. LAcarGUY was then formed with a focus on treating customers with respect, supporting local communities, and contributing to environmental causes.

In their short history, Genesis has caught the attention of automotive media and has taken home some of their most prestigious awards. Now the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has named the entire 2021 Genesis model lineup a 2021 IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+. It’s a genuine honor, and a reflection of Genesis’ driver-first approach to vehicles and the ownership experience. Later in the year the dealership, one of the first stand-alone Genesis locations in America, will debut Genesis’ first fully-electric model: the Electrified G80.

“Genesis is pleased to be expanding our reach in Southern California with the opening of a new location in Santa Monica,” said Tedros Mengiste, Executive Director of Sales Operations, Genesis Motor America. “At Genesis, we put the customer at the core of everything we do. In addition to new car sales, Genesis Santa Monica will offer pre-owned sales, financing, and Genesis Concierge Service, where they pick up and drop off the customer’s car from their doorstep, while leaving them a loaner

Community involvement and sustainability have always been important to Mike Sullivan. LAcarGUY is one of the most environmentally concerned car dealership groups globally and have won a number of awards for their efforts. They have been passionate advocates for bringing hybrid and electric vehicles to their locations and with Genesis’ EV will now offer seven hybrids and electrics across their brands. Additionally, their Audi Pacific dealership in Torrance is the only LEED Gold certified Audi dealership in the US.

Growing up an avid surfer, Mike was inspired early on to do what he could to change an “environmentally challenged” automotive industry. Mike currently serves on the board of Heal the Bay, including supporting the Santa Monica Aquarium, and the Environmental Media Association. Over twenty years of dedication to the environmental community has helped LAcarGUY become one of the top hybrid/electric dealers in the country.
Genesis Santa Monica is currently located in a temporary location at 1100 Santa Monica Blvd., but will relocate to a purpose-built state-of-the-art dealership next to VW Santa Monica at 2450 Santa Monica Blvd. later in the year.

Husband and Wife Team Bianca and Michael Alexander Travel the Globe to Inspire Viewers to Live More Mindfully While Eating, Shopping, Traveling, and more!

Los Angeles, California – The past year in quarantine has forced many of us to think more consciously about the impact everyday choices have on our health, humanity and the sustainability of the planet. As we emerge cautiously from isolation and venture beyond our insulated pods and cocoons, Conscious Living invites viewers to explore the world more mindfully.

With a successful career as a Hollywood entertainment attorney and Emmy-winning on-camera TV journalist, yogi Bianca Alexander felt called to create more uplifting TV programming. Combined with her husband Michael’s lifelong commitment to the environment and decades of experience as a holistic entrepreneur, vegan chef, and filmmaker, they were both eager to be the change and harness the power of storytelling to help create a more just and sustainable world. Hence, they created the popular Amazon Prime streaming show Conscious Living that will debut its fourth season on PBS stations across the US starting this month. Notable premiere dates include Los Angeles on KVCR on June 7, San Francisco on KQED on June 15, Houston on KUHT on June 12, Washington, DC on WHUT on June 27 and many more.

Distributed by NETA and airing nationally on PBS stations (check local listings) and streaming now on the PBS app, Conscious Living is an exciting lifestyle series that travels the globe on a hunt for what it takes to be a more mindful human – from unique yoga and wellness adventures to mouthwatering vegan street food, sustainable eco-fashion and design, and uplifting spiritual transformation.

With the planet in peril, humanity faces extinction unless we evolve and learn to coexist with Mother Nature, society, and each other. The media we consume is an important part of the mindful revolution. This led Bianca and Michael to conceive Conscious Living on a beach in Bali during their honeymoon in 2004.

During a year-long spiritual sabbatical in the healing vortex of Sedona, Arizona, Michael and Bianca produced the first episodes of Conscious Living. They launched the show to serve as a catalyst for the global awakening toward mindfulness that’s currently sweeping the planet.

“We are part of a new global paradigm shift guided by spirituality, sustainability, and equal justice for all. Conscious Living celebrates choice: the choice to focus our energy on what we wish to create in the world and to take positive steps each day towards that vision. Whether it’s adopting a more holistic plant-based diet, living and traveling sustainably, or raising your vibration through meditation and yoga, in order to heal the planet, we first have to heal ourselves,” notes Bianca. “While how we travel is important – we offset our carbon, drive an electric car, travel via train, subway, bike and foot wherever possible and follow a plant-based diet – we’re far from perfect. The show documents our journey of discovery – celebrating progress, not perfection. As the pandemic has taught us, every choice can make a difference in our collective wellbeing.” added Michael.

Since launching Conscious Living, they’ve produced hundreds of inspiring stories at beautiful destinations, like a Zen hot springs meditation retreat near Big Sur, California and an Ayurvedic yoga detox in the Himalayas. The show also gives viewers front-row seats to ethical cultural events like an upcycled eco-fashion show in Hong Kong and a sacred indigenous temple ceremony in Bali, while helping them hunt for the tastiest vegan street food from Singapore to Washington, D.C.

The premiere episode takes place in Germany where the dynamic duo takes a walk on the mindful side of one of the most eclectic cities in Europe: Berlin. From live music in historic Tiergarten Park just steps from the Brandenburg Gate to incredible back-alley vegan eats, Berlin’s a gift that keeps on giving. Its complex history creates a beautiful tapestry of diverse cultures and experiences, from a pop-up ethical fashion runway show to a tasty plant-based take on Germany’s beloved currywurst. Join this conscious couple as they train, bike, and hike their way through a surprisingly sustainable city.

Future episodes take viewers on a wild adventure that includes: a visit to the wellness paradise of Bali; spiritual seeking in Rishikesh, India, Charlottesville, Virginia, Sedona and New York City; a vegan Mexican fiesta and yoga surfing trip in Maui; glamping in upstate New York; sustainable art exhibits from Japan and Italy to Chicago’s South Side; exploring the spiritually transforming effects of music at a Kirtan festival in Joshua Tree; raw vegan gelato in Rome; discovering the oldest Zen monastery and the art of Feng Shui in California; disappearing diabetes with an African American pastor in DC; escaping to the Himalayas and Umbria, Italy, for a digital detox; discovering a more sustainable future in eco-chic Singapore and finding hope in the midst of despair from a prison in Oregon to the gritty streets of Oakland.

Bianca and Michael are honored to air the next broadcast season of Conscious Living nationally on PBS stations starting this month. Take the journey with Conscious Living as they travel the mindful path to a brighter tomorrow.

Share

London – May 24, 2021 – The Global Carbon Forum, presented by FT Live, in partnership with MOSS, brings together noted industry thought leaders, key global business and financial players, senior government officials, and local communities to discuss the solutions and investments that will deliver – at the right pace and scale – a net-zero, nature-positive economy for a more equitable and resilient society. The focus will be placed on the positive impact that investment strategies, financial instruments, carbon markets, and technology can have as enablers of a sustainable and profitable Amazon. The event will take place on June 29 and 30, 2021 online at https://globalcarbonforum.live.ft.com/home.

The planet’s survival is intrinsically linked to preserving and valuing its natural resources and it is essential to develop direct policies, enhance capacity building and steer financial flows at the scale needed, combining sustainability and economic development.

Nowhere is the importance of immediate action more evident than in the Amazon, the world’s largest rainforest, that is imminently threatened by deforestation. The Amazon plays a vital role in stabilizing the Earth’s climate, protecting biodiversity, and providing significant ecosystem services to three million species. How best to take care of this valuable resource, delivering jobs, economic development, and innovation while restoring and conserving it? Is it possible to reconcile these objectives? What are the best practices and proposed models for the development of a low-carbon, inclusive model in the region? What policies, partnerships, and financial instruments are needed to harness the Amazon’s full potential for the benefit of people and nature?

The event’s sessions will cover such topics as sustainable investing, how carbon markets are driving decarbonization, green bonds and the latest breed of financial instruments for sustainability, reconciling economic development and conservation in the Amazon, transitioning to the bioeconomy, a dialogue on what the business sector is doing to preserve “the lungs of the world,” and more.

Speakers at the event include Todd Chapman, US Ambassador to Brazil, Carlos A. Nobre, a Senior Researcher, at the Institute of Advanced Studies, University of Sao Paulo; Marina Grossi, President of the Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS); Thomas Lovejoy, President of the Amazon Biodiversity Center, a Senior Fellow of the United Nations Foundation and a University Professor in the Department of Environmental Science and Policy at George Mason University; Daniel Alves da Silva, a Professional Footballer who plays for São Paulo FC and the Brazilian National Team and is a Member of the Earthshot Prize Council; and Luis Felipe Adaime, the Co-founder and CEO of MOSS.

The Global Carbon Forum, presented by FT Live in partnership with MOSS, is a free online event, interested attendees can register at https://globalcarbonforum.live.ft.com/page/1773846/register-for-free.

About MOSS
MOSS has launched the world’s first tradable and largest tokenized REDD+ carbon credit project in History, the MCO2 token (MOSS Carbon Credit), for compensation of CO2 footprints. MCO2 is the first truly global carbon credit token that provides ease, transparency, security, liquidity, and global scale compensation for carbon footprints. In ten months, the project has bought/sold more than 1 million tons of CO2 and raised and sent more than $10 million in proceeds to Amazon Forest conservation projects – this helped the expansion of these projects to 300 thousand hectares. In addition, MCO2 has the highest quality and carefully selected Amazon conservation projects and has as its solid record the largest stock of a carbon credit token: 2 million tons – equivalent to a market value of US $36 million. Crypto’s Carbon Emissions Addressed by One River and MOSS

05/10/2021 by Susan von Seggern

MOSS Helps One River Digital Asset Management Create World’s First Carbon-Neutral Crypto Asset Fund

Greenwich, Connecticut/Sao Paulo, Brazil – April 27, 2021 – One River Digital Asset Management (ORDAM), one of the largest institutional crypto fund managers, and MOSS, the world’s largest carbon credit platform, today announced plans to launch the world’s first carbon-neutral crypto asset fund, enabling climate conscious investors the opportunity to benefit from exposure to Bitcoin and Ethereum while offsetting their carbon footprint.

Through the provable “burning” of MCO2 tokens (via UNISWAP), One River Digital Asset Management created the world’s first carbon neural crypto asset offering. For every Bitcoin owned, ORDAM will buy and “plant” MCO2 tokens, offsetting carbon emissions.

ORDAM is the first asset management company to offer carbon offsetting globally.

ORDAM Chief Executive Officer Eric Peters said in a Bloomberg interview. “There’s a lot of talk about the carbon footprint of Bitcoin. We decided it’s time to stop talking and start doing something about it,” adding here, “we are so excited to work with Brazil’s MOSS since they are doing the hard work of actually creating and executing carbon offset programs in the Amazon and then tokenizing them for use in the crypto space. This was a truly needed application of tokens and we’re looking forward to helping our clients offset their crypto carbon footprint.”

MOSS CEO Luis Felipe Adaime notes, “This is exactly the application of the MCO2 token we envisioned when we created it. While smaller crypto entities – miners, traders, companies building distributed applications, etc., can purchase our token on a number of cryptocurrency exchanges to offset their carbon use, MOSS Carbon Neutral Custody allows any institutional or corporate investor a means to offset the carbon emissions associated with crypto assets.”

The decentralized technology that makes cryptocurrencies so secure – mining – requires vast amounts of energy. While a significant and growing portion of cryptocurrency mining is done with renewable and carbon-neutral sources, the full transition to zero carbon mining will take years. Meanwhile, MOSS Carbon Neutral Custody provides an effective way for ESG-minded investors to offset the carbon emissions related to their ownership of cryptocurrencies.

By creating a more sustainable way to own crypto assets, MOSS Carbon Neutral Custody will help One River attract investors who shied away from this emerging asset class due to environmental concerns, with the additional benefit of preserving and defending the Amazon rainforest.

About MOSS and the MCO2 Token
MOSS is the largest environmental platform in the world. MOSS started operating in early 2020 when it launched the first carbon credit-backed token, MCO2, used to offset carbon footprints. MCO2 is audited by international institutions, such as EY and Armanino, and registered with global foundations that regulate the global registration of voluntary credits, following strict protocols.

Rio’s Revered Football Club Flamengo Signs $600k Sponsorship with MOSS, the World’s Largest Carbon Credit Platform

05/10/2021 by Susan von Seggern

MOSS has already channeled US $10M in carbon credit transactions for projects in the Amazon. This deal will turn Flamengo into the largest carbon neutral football club in the world.

Rio de Janeiro, April 22, 2021 – The football club with one of the largest fanbases in the world and the largest carbon credit platform globally have come together to help preserve the largest tropical forest on the planet. There is no lack of superlatives in the announcement of Flamengo’s new sponsor: MOSS, a platform that allows for online carbon credit transactions and channels resources to projects for the preservation of the Amazon, is the new sponsor of the club for 2021.

MOSS has developed a platform that converts carbon credits into tokens (called MCO2), which trade at digital exchanges. Whoever buys these credits can resell them or use them for compensation of greenhouse gas emissions. In total, more than US $10M have been directed to projects such as saving the Fortaleza Ituxi, which occupies an area larger than that of the city of São Paulo, from forest fires and other deforestation. As part of the sponsorship, in addition to the resources, MOSS will advise Flamengo on how to offset the emissions of its football team and to become the largest carbon neutral club in the world.

“In Brazil, we have the largest tropical rain forest on the planet along with a pressing set of challenges to preserve it. One is to show people who want to help the Amazon that it is possible to do in a safe and practical way through the purchase of carbon credits. There is nothing better than this partnership with Flamengo and its huge fanbase to give visibility to this crucial issue and how to solve it”, says Luis Adaime, founder and CEO of MOSS.

“We are very optimistic about this partnership. In addition to the financial aspect, with the signing of an important contract in a period of pandemic like the one we are experiencing, we have Flamengo, once again, positioning itself in the social vanguard, as one of the first clubs in the world to commit to the of neutralization of carbon emissions. It is a partnership that will help publicize the work we are committed to for our planet,” noted Gustavo de Oliveira, Flamengo’s Vice President of Communication and Marketing.

The sponsorship contract between MOSS and Flamengo lasts until December 2021 and involves an investment of R$3.5M/US$600k by MOSS. The company’s brand will appear on the players’ socks and on the official bus that transports the athletes, in addition to the official Flamengo social network channels.

About MOSS and the MCO2 Token
Moss is the largest environmental platform in the world. With global operations and headquartered in Brazil, it started operating in early 2020, when it launched the first carbon credit-backed token, MCO2, used to offset carbon footprints. MCO2 is audited by international institutions and registered with Verra, a foundation that regulates the global registration of voluntary credits, following a strict global protocol.

This is the First True Digital Carbon Credit, Through its MCO2 Tokens

Moonrise over the Amazon

São Paulo, Brazil – April 1, 2020 – MOSS, the world’s largest environmental platform, has taken an important step towards making carbon credits accessible to millions of people. Today, it begins offering its carbon token, MCO2, through token sales platform ProBit, an Exchange that ranks among the top three in the world in web traffic. The pre-sale to ProBit subscribers launching now offers benefits, such as a 10% bonus on the purchase of MCO2, which until April 7 when the sale will open wider and tokens will be sold for $15.00. This is the first time that Probit opens its platform for the sale of carbon credits.

The partnership between Moss and Probit allows more people to contribute to the neutralization of carbon emissions and environmental protection projects that are partners of MOSS, but also allows access to an asset with high global demand. Last year alone, the supply of quality carbon credits was less than demand and, according to a survey by Taskforce on Scaling Voluntary Carbon Markets (TSVCM) – a group composed of more than 40 leaders from six continents with experience in the carbon market – and the Mckinsey consultancy, it is possible that the size of the carbon credit market will exceed $50 billion in 2030. In addition, several global institutions such as the European Central Bank, the IMF (International Monetary Fund), the World Bank, and the London School of Economics point out that the price of one carbon credit is expected to rise above $100 in the coming years.

A carbon credit is an immaterial asset that is equivalent to avoiding the emission of 1 ton of CO2 (carbon dioxide) in a given year through forest conservation projects, reforestation of devastated areas, clean energy, biomass, among others. The MCO2 Token is already listed on platforms such as Bitcoin Market and FlowBTC. In a year of existence, Moss and its customers have already sent over 13 million dollars to the Amazon, which served to preserve 780 million trees.

The projects that Moss is spearheading include Agrocortex that benefits the Brazilian rainforest city of Manoel Urbano with the work of sustainable management, generating jobs, and significantly reducing deforestation in that region in a sustainable way; the Fortaleza Ituxi project an initiative that aims to protect forests located in one of the most affected regions of the Amazon with actions aimed at the sustainability of the area in the fight against burning and deforestation; and the Amazon Rio 1 project has as a main objective the preservation of the forest for the riverside population who live and work in the preservation of subsistence culture and management of the production of chestnut, flour, and açaí.

ICEWIND TURBINE TO POWER EMERGENCY BEACON AT ARCTIC CIRCLE

11/16/2020 by Susan von Seggern

Straumnes Air Station, Westfjords, Iceland (Latitude 66.440607) – October 22, 2020 – Noted wind power startup IceWind is deploying its new Njord series wind turbine just nine miles below the Arctic Circle on the site of the former U.S. Air Force’s Straumnes Air Station in the Westfjords region of Iceland. The air station monitored Soviet maneuvers in the strategic Greenland-Iceland-UK (GIUK) gap during the Cold War. The IceWind RW100 (aka Njord) turbine will power an autonomous emergency beacon operated by the Icelandic Coast Guard (Landhelgisgæsla Íslands) there.

Straumnes is known for its extreme weather. In fact, five prior attempts have been made to run the site on wind energy, all of them unsuccessful. Wind gusts break apart lesser turbines and none have lasted for an entire winter. IceWind turbines, on the other hand, are engineered to provide reliable power in the most extreme Arctic environments.

The site has a 30W emergency transmitter that needs to run 24 hours a day all year and cannot go off-line. The total power consumption of the system is around 100W. For a vast majority of its lifespan the site has been run on diesel. Solar panels were incorporated in the last ten years to power the station during summer months.

At Straumnes Air Station the wind is known to reach 157 mph – blowing from all directions because of turbulence created by the near-vertical drop on the sides of the mountain the station is on top of. Average wind speed is estimated to be well over 22 mph.

The IceWind Njord turbine installed at Straumnes is made from stainless steel, carbon fiber and aluminum. It will be placed on a concrete platform 26m away from the main power system and will be connected to location’s existing energy system of batteries, solar panels and a diesel engine.

IceWind designs and manufactures robust omni-directional micro vertical-axis wind turbines and other hybrid energy solutions to power telecom towers, and weather and seismic stations, for on-grid and off-grid applications. All products are designed and tested in Iceland, one of the windiest places on earth.

The Njord (RW-series) wind turbines are built to be mounted on commercial towers, and reduce operational costs through an increase in backup power time and reliability, as well as reduced maintenance and failures, minimizing total downtime, and carbon emissions, along with savings from the vastly reduced service and refueling calls needed by diesel generators.

IceWind USA President Daryl Losaw, a USAF veteran, notes, “We are very excited to be working with the Icelandic Coast Guard on this installation and are hopeful that it will be the first of many Arctic region installations of our robust carbon free technology.”

Noted Arctic expert Robert Gerber, the former Acting Deputy Chief of Mission at the US embassy in Reykjavik, and an IceWind advisor, adds, “With our understanding of the power needs in Arctic locations we are thrilled to be part of a critical infrastructure power solution that is also good for the planet.”

Geoship, a Leader in Zero-Carbon Dome Homebuilding Reopens StartEngine Equity Crowdfunding Raise After Raising Over $100k in 5 Days

02/12/2020 by Susan von Seggern

Nevada City, CA – February 10, 2020 – Geoship is introducing the bioceramic geodesic dome to the world. The technology merges the work of two of history’s greatest inventions — Buckminster Fuller’s Geodesic Geometry and Professor Rustum Roy’s Ceramic Crystal Chemistry. Fuller compared the domes they were building in the 60’s and 70’s to “wooden spaceships” — the right shape built with the wrong material. He predicted it would be 50-100 years before the material science would catch up to his new geometry. Right on cue, in 2004, the general theory and compositions of Roy’s ceramic crystal chemistry was announced. Geoship brings together the geometry and materials that maximize efficiency and believes that bioceramic domes will replace wood boxes as the ‘bread and butter’ of 21st century home building.

To further this vision of affordable regenerative housing, Geoship, who built their initial dome prototype in 2015 and has been steadily bootstrapping since, launched their first foray into public fundraising with a crowd investment ask on StartEngine.com on January 3, 2020 and achieved their goal by January 8. With 140 investors plus another 200 on the waitlist, the company has increased their funding goal to allow more investors to participate Geoship will be accepting investment at https://www.startengine.com/geoship.

Founder and CEO Morgan Bierschenk was surprised by the speed of the campaign, noting, “We were astounded we hit the goal so quickly. People are just ready for an epoch shift — we’re transforming capitalism and the construction industry! Equity crowdfunding is the obvious choice for the new wave of multi-stakeholder companies. Old school capitalism makes rich people richer, and everybody defers responsibility, while our planet pays the price. We’re shifting that paradigm by making our seed investment widely accessible, and distributing equity to customers and the Earth.”

The company aims to reshape one of the biggest industries on earth – the $24T global construction industry. Geoship is structured as a Social Purpose Corporation and a multi-stakeholder cooperative — customers and nature will be major owners in the company, in addition to investors and employees.

The multi-stakeholder ownership model was almost completely unknown and unprecedented when Geoship started in 2014. The JOBS act of 2016, opened the floodgates for equity-based crowdfunding, which Bierschenk says is “the obvious choice for purpose-driven multi-stakeholder companies.” Until then, early-stage investing was limited to select accredited investors and Venture Capital firms. In 2018, this revolution in capitalism continued, when Brian Chesky wrote a letter to shareholders declaring that Airbnb would serve multiple stakeholders. VC’s are also taking notice, as Jim Breyer, the VC who first invested in Facebook, just invested in Goodmoney, a similarly modeled company that just raised $34M to disrupt banking. Marc Benioff, the founder/CEO of SalesForce, recently announced that capitalism as we know it is dead and the multi-stakeholder world is coming.

Geoship first entered the mainstream housing discussion in 2019 when they partnered with Zappos to help address the homelessness crisis around its downtown Vegas headquarters. Geoship, Zappos, and other partners aim to demonstrate a scalable model now, working toward transcending homelessness across the nation by 2030. These types of ground breaking projects and regenerative villages are what Geoship domes are intended to inspire.

In addition to a new business model, and a multi-decade romance with “Bucky Domes,” potential buyers and investors are excited about a number of the Geoship home’s advantages. These include:

All-Ceramic Composites
Bioceramic domes bypass all conventional building materials. The framing, insulation, and panels are 100% bioceramic composite materials. The ceramic is entrained with air to make insulation. The ceramic is combined with basalt and hemp fiber to form the panels and framing.

Affordable
Estimated go-to-market turnkey prices will be $45K to $230K (depending on size). This price estimate includes everything: delivery, permitting, installation, mechanical systems, interior finishing, appliances, and even electrochromic glass for privacy and passive solar heating/cooling. Bioceramic domes are a mass production technology that enables the leap onto a new affordability curve.

Resilient
Ceramic composites are fireproof to 2,300F. They provide no food for mold or insects. The dome structure distributes stresses and strains perfectly, making it the most earthquake-proof and hurricane-proof structure known to man. Bioceramic domes are engineered to last for over 500 years. There is nothing to rot, rust, or deteriorate. They can be repaired and resurfaced with the same ceramic material.

Zero-Carbon
The precast ceramic panels could actually sequester more CO2 than was released in their production. The raw minerals can be harvested from seawater desalination plants, sewage treatment plants, and other non-toxic waste stream sources. Old bioceramic panels can be recycled into new bioceramic panels, or pulverized and used as fertilizer.

Nature Technology
The chemical composition of GEOSHIP bioceramic is similar to bone and shells. The same material is now revolutionizing the orthopedic industry as fast-cure bioactive bone cement. Ancient civilizations used similar ceramic materials to build sacred temple complexes like the great pyramids of Giza.

Health Optimizing
Bioceramic domes mimic the natural light, water, and electromagnetic environment. The design uses earthing floors, natural spectrum light, and vortex water to restore the conditions that humans evolved with on Earth. The high dielectric ceramics and fractal geometry function like a stone circle or a pyramid. Bioceramics reflect >80% of radiant heat and emit high far-infrared light. Professional athletes are now using bioceramic powders in clothing because the far-infrared light catalyzes the body’s natural healing process.

In addition to these amazing and timely benefits, investors should note that homebuilding is ripe for modernization, and Geoship is an early adopter for a product that has an enthusiastic and growing niche market. Additionally, the company boasts a strong team and partnerships – the founding crew has deep experience in human-centered design, CNC mold making, and green ceramic manufacturing. Geoship is dedicated to a revolution in affordable regenerative village architecture — to reconnect human communities and the natural world.

Geoship enters the market as a visionary community building brand. It partners with corporations and cities to transcend homelessness — generating awareness for its evolutionary technology and business model. Geoship serves ecologically and spiritually focused customers who envision a world that works for 100% of humanity. Their ultimate market is affordable regenerative homes in next-generation communities around the world.
