Excitement is building for Veda MeLA, the first annual urban Yoga, Ayurveda and Vedic Arts festival taking place at The REEF (formerly The LA Mart) in Downtown Los Angeles November 7 and 8. The Festival will offer a unique atmosphere with a highly curated offering of classes and vendors for a sophisticated, one of a kind gathering for devotees of yoga, art, wisdom and wellness.
Veda MeLA is proud to announce a world class lineup of Workshops and Immersions, from master teachers including Mas Vidal, Daniel Stewart, Mark Whitwell, Christopher Chapple, Lissa Coffey, Philip Goldberg, Maria Garre, Ricky Tran and other thought leaders in the Vedic sciences of India to lead transformational talks on how this ancient wisdom can be applied to modern living.
Veda MeLA’s educational encounters are different from other happenings in that the event offers longer workshops, easeful transitions between sessions, in depth immersions within the overall event (not an extra day before or after) and a focus on experiential learning.
In the SELF STUDY ROOM, teachers will be offering applicable Vedic tools and personal experience-based wisdom throughout the weekend. International yoga and ayurveda expert, Mas Vidal (Dancing Shiva) will be leading an interactive workshop “Sun, Moon & Earth: The Sacred Relationship of Yoga & Ayurveda” to delineate how Vedic traditions support the human experience. Lakshmi Angela Norwood (YogaWorks), will present the Devi Mahatmyam as a personal journey into the divine feminine. Author and renowned yoga instructor Mark Whitwell, LA’s beloved yogi Daniel Stewart, (Rising Lotus) internal alignment expert Lana Shlafer, and ayurvedic relationship What’s Your Dosha, Baby? author Lissa Coffey all share tools for self study and increased awareness.
Martha Soffer (Surya Spa), celebrity ayurvedic pancha karma (detox and rejuvenation) specialist, will walk through an approach to home detoxification practices in an Immersion in the AYURVEDA ROOM. Head instructor for Dr. Vasant Lad and Shiva Rea, ayurvedic expert Maria Garre will delve into an Immersion on Living with Ritual. Leading edge neuroscientist Rammohan Rao, will present anti-aging practices as brain food, Ayurvedic chef Meredith Klein (Pranaful), will share basic blueprints for delicious meals, kitchen set up, and how to cook as a spiritual practice. Dr. Lokhunde (Lotus Blooming Herbs), and Kailas, and Mojohito Tchudi (Floracopaeia) present ayurveda in a modern lens for individual and community health.
Jacob Griscom, the Fishbains, Ranmalee Perera, Saraswati J. Miller, author and local Vastu expert Michael Mastro will present Vedic wisdom on how to shift your business strategy, space energetics, success, abundance, and even your relationship with the language of yoga, flowing through the weekend in the SHIFT ROOM. Souvik Dhutta, began his studies with a Jyotish guru at the the age of 8 after a near-death experience, and will lead an immersion in shifting your karma. Author Phillip Goldberg, will journey through the shift in LA with an entertaining multimedia presentation“A City Of Yogis: How Vedic Wisdom Changed LA”.
Christopher Chapple, Founder of the Master of Arts in Yoga Studies at LMU and prolific author, will be presenting Yoga as a tool for bringing yourself, in the worlds of Maya Angelou, to your “best self.” Similarly, all of the workshops in the CHAKRA ROOM surround tools to restore and activate the subtle energetic body, such as yantras (sacred geometry) with Pam McDonough to sacred sounds and mantras with internationally acclaimed musicians Naren Schreiner and Sheela Bringi. Ricky Tran will lead a “Yoga of Addictions” immersion addressing yogic tools for the subtle body, while author and understudy of renown intuitive Carolyn Myss, Karen Kassy reveals how to increase your awareness and use of intuition.
Veda MeLA was born from a beautiful collaboration between renowned MD-turned-Ayurvedic doctor Siva Mohan, and Curated Events, producer of specialized, large-scale events in Downtown Los Angeles. After years of collaborative visioning and mind-mapping, Veda MeLA now brings to Los Angeles a home-base to celebrate the Vedic arts and sciences, fueling the hearts, minds, and souls of one of the largest conscious living communities in the world.
