Valley Performing Arts Center is pleased to announce its final event of the 2014/15 season will be a FREE concert with the United States Air Force Band of the Golden West Concert Band with a special guest performance by Hailey Reinhart on May 14 at 7:30pm. From Travis AFB CA, the United States Air Force Band of the Golden West is a select group of professional Airmen-musicians who support the global Air Force mission by providing outstanding music for official military, recruiting, and community relations events, and by fostering America’s rich national heritage. Under the direction of Captain Dustin Doyle, the Band of the Golden West Concert Band, the largest ensemble within the organization, represents the professionalism and excellence found every day throughout the Air Force.
Touring the western states of California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Arizona, Utah and Nevada, the Concert Band performs a wide variety of music from standard concert band literature and military marches to jazz and pop arrangements, Broadway standards, and of course, patriotic music complete with instrumental soloists and featured vocalists. During this concert, attendees will hear music by a variety of modern and vintage composers including Aaron Copland, Lady Antebellum, John Mellencamp, John Philip Sousa and more.
The U.S. Air Force Band of the Golden West has performed for thousands of listeners in live concert appearances and for millions worldwide via its numerous recordings and television and radio broadcasts. Throughout its history, the Concert Band has collaborated with some of America’s leading band conductors, receiving enthusiastic critical acclaim as one of premier musical organizations of its kind.
Haley Reinhart, 24, is a singer/songwriter whose debut album, Listen Up!, debuted at number 17 on the Billboard 200 chart. Heavily influenced by rock, funk, pop, jazz, and blues, Reinhart grew up in Chicago as part of a musical family. Singing since the age of seven, she took the stage alongside her parents and their band of 30 years, Midnight. She hit the big stage with her high school jazz band when they toured across Europe performing in both the Montreaux and Umbria Jazz Festivals. Reinhart continued to study jazz in college, forming many bands and side collaborations. In 2011, she won the third place title on Season 10 of American Idol. Since then, she has toured the U.S. and abroad. She has reached many different listeners playing in festivals such as Lollapalooza, Sonic Bloom, and NOLA’s Jazz Fest, and performed with acts such as Tony Bennett at Nokia Theatre, Slash at the MGM Grand, David Foster for Celebrity Fight Night, and Irvin Mayfield & The New Orleans Jazz Orchestra at Carnegie Hall.
The United States Air Force Band of the Golden West is dedicated to using the power of music to inspire Air Force members and the great nation they serve, producing innovative music, and communicating Air Force excellence.
