An actual couple of world famous fiddlers will grace the stage of Valley Performing Arts Center on Saturday May 2 at 8:00pm as marrieds Natalie MacMaster & Donnell Leahy bring their performance of Visions from Cape Breton and Beyond to VPAC.
Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy are two of the world’s most celebrated fiddlers. Together, Natalie and Donnell meld their virtuosities into a whirlwind of fiddle-driven music, dance, and song, combining the best of French, Celtic and American Bluegrass and even Cajun styles, and making it their own.
Concert goers will be treated to the foot-tapping rave-ups, heart-wrenching ballads, and world-class step dancing that have brought audiences to their feet on three (and counting) continents. By the end of the show they will have been enriched by the music, the stories and the warmth of the Cape Breton lifestyle and feel as if they’ve experienced a little bit of the Cape Breton hospitality that draws visitors from around the world.
“It’s always a treat for the two of us to share our passion in life, which is music, and go out on tour together,” MacMaster says, “This is very much a family affair.”
Master fiddlers Natalie MacMaster and her husband Donnell Leahy have created a new show to bring their fans the next chapter in their musical and personal journey. For the first time on stage, they’ll feature their children alongside dancers and singers from the traditions of their hometowns of Cape Breton and Lakefield, Ontario. The evening will highlight the unique talents, influences, and stories of the first family of traditional fiddlers through dancing, singing, and, of course, world-class music-making.
Tickets range from $35 – $45 and can be purchased at http://www.valleyperformingartscenter.org/calendar/natalie-macmaster-and-donnell-leahy-visions-from-cape-breton-and-beyond/.
