Bhakti Fest, a pioneer in the now booming American yoga and spiritual music festival scene is celebrating its fourth season September 6 – 9 at the Joshua Tree Desert Retreat Center, in Joshua Tree, CA. In addition to Bhakti Fest’s unique focus on kirtan music, along with hosting the country’s top yoga teachers, Bhakti Fest brings together some of the top wisdom teachers of our time for over 25 workshops.
Workshops include kirtan superstar Krishna Das with an intimate afternoon of stories and discussions on the path; Meditation expert Dr. Lorin Roche PhD explains The Radiance Sutras; HoopGirl Christabel Zamor gives the basics of hula hooping as spiritual bodywork; kirtan group Mayapuris gives an introduction to the elements of kirtan; author Philip Goldberg presents his popular talk “The Beatles’ Yoga: Within You, Without You” illuminating how the Fab Four opened the floodgates for yogic teachings in the West; Bansuri flute master Steve Gorn gives an introduction to the World of Raga, the modal-melodic form of Indian Classical Music; evolutionary men’s coach Zat Baraka explains how to be more fulfilled at work and ecstatic in love relationships; Indian University religious studies professor David Haberman addresses our current ecological situation from a spiritual perspective; along with many more. Additionally Bhakti Fest’s spiritual god father Ram Dass will give a special video message.
According to Sridhar Silberfein, Founder and Producer of the Bhakti Fests, “At Bhakti Fest we like to allow space for context of the other spiritual disciplines at the festival – Yoga Asana – the physical yoga practice, and the devotional yoga of kirtan – Bhakti Yoga. Our workshops bring all the aspects together on the mental plane fostering greater understanding among our attendees. Having an annual message from Bhakti Fest’s inspiration Ram Dass on video adds an even deeper level of wisdom and unity to our event.”
In addition to the workshops, Bhakti Fest holds ongoing 24 hours daily kirtan concerts on two stages with nationally acclaimed musicians including Krishna Das, Deva Premal & Miten, Jai Uttal, WAH and Donna De Lory. Each day will also feature twelve hours of daily yoga classes in three large studios facilitated by world-renowned yoga teachers such as Shiva Rea, Sara Ivanhoe and Bryan Kest.
Attendees will be invited to leave the busy world behind and immerse themselves in a conscious community for four full days for what the festival producers call “the path of the heart.” They will experience a thriving an eco-friendly vendor village of more than 100 artisan merchants offering, raw, vegan, and vegetarian foods, yoga gear, clothing, musical instruments, crafts and more.
